Fun Fact Friday

Here are Five Fun Facts about me for this Friday:

1. Autumn has recently become my favorite season
2. It used to be summer
3. Speaking of autumn, I love pumpkin beers. Top 3: My brother's pumpkin homebrew, Williamsburg Alewerks Pumpkin, and Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale
4. Hubbs and I shamelessly narrate our dog's life
5. I have been a badass barista at four different, independent coffee shops during high school and college.

Hope you enjoyed those! Happy weekend!

My Dreadlocks (with pictures!)

Alright, so you've read my "About Me" page and you've seen a few of my posts, and maybe you've stalked my Pinterest, but you still haven't quite figured me out yet.

Let me put myself out there and tell you about my lil dreadies. My dreadlocks have fascinated people since they've been in existence. They're unique and uncommon, and mine aren't pristine; they are definitely more rugged and natural. They are of uneven sizes, and I even have a few "congo dreads" that used to be many singular dreadies that morphed into one giant one. I also have decorative beads scattered through my locks!

Here is a list of very common questions I get about my hair and my answers:

Saving Money on Food

As a broke-ass college graduate, I'm all about saving money. And food is one of those things you just have to spend money on, so you might as well try to get the best bang for your buck!

I'm subscribed to a few feeds that have to do with living on the cheap, including Wise Bread and The Simple Dollar. Last night I found something on Pinterest that is called "Freezer Cooking." Now, I am definitely a freezer person...

Personalities

This article came up on SpouseBUZZ recently, "Does it Take a Certain Personality to be a Military Spouse?" and I thought it was pretty interesting, especially since I'm new to this and it'd be good to know if I need to adopt a new personality trait or get rid of and old one!

The author, Heather Sweeney, says that she is an introvert. And although there is a difference between being introverted and being shy, as the very first commenter states, the author describes how she is shy in social situations. I'm like that too sometimes, and I also become very worn out after socializing for extended period of time-- even if it's with people I know. Entertaining can occasionally be energizing for me, but it's mostly draining.

Pilot

A fitting title for the first post on a Air Force blog!

Let me start off by first saying thanks for stopping by! I encourage you to take a look at the About page to get to know me, and if you think this blog is something you'll enjoy, feel free to subscribe either on your RSS Reader or by email. (Those links can be found in the column to the right.)

In the next few months, you can expect to witness a very exciting lifestyle change for me and Hubbs. He will be entering active duty and starting his Air Force career, we'll be moving away from our family to start our military life, going through the hassle that is on-base housing, job searching for me, finding a balance between housewifery and career, and I'll be learning the "ins and outs" of being an officer's wife.

I am definitely looking forward to these changes! We've been working towards this lifestyle for the past 5 years, and there was even a time when we weren't sure that things were going to pan out. So now that it's actually happening, I'm stoked!

Here's a little bit of background info..:
